Tasbeeh: one application (in a situation I don’t like):
The first prerequisite-before the situation:
The witnessing (shahada) of the Rahmah Mercy and Hikmah wisdom of God in the existence/universe/my own life, under the guidance of revelation.
The second prerequisite:
I do not know what is best for me or everyone else, I do not know what is the right thing, my Sustainor does.
Everything is a message it’s not random, they are signs from God guiding me (towards knowing better, towards for the life to come) and therefore everything is good.
<<Sura Rahman,55:60 "hal jazail ihsani illah ihsan" "Could the reward of good be aught but good?" (Asad)>>
Intention is good
Result is not good--> my perception
Question my perception? Is it really not good?
Teaching me what is the right thing, what makes it good even though I don’t see it good at first is exactly because it’s teaching me.
<<Surah Fajr Chapter of the Dawn
BUT AS FOR man, [8] whenever his Sustainer tries him by His generosity and by letting him enjoy a life of ease, he says, "My Sustainer has been [justly] generous towards me"; [9] - 89:15 (Asad)
whereas, whenever He tries him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Sustainer has disgraced me!" [10] - 89:16 (Asad
NOTE10 by Asad: I.e., he regards the absence or loss of affluence not as a trial, but as an evidence of divine "injustice" - which, in its turn, may lead to a denial of God's existence.>>
The third prerequisite:
<<87:16 But nay, [O humans,] you prefer the life of this world,
87:17 although the life to come is better and more enduring.>>
We need to have the perspective that the life to come is better and more enduring (87:17) and then everything here I dislike within the bounds of this life take on a different dimension, that everything in this life is a message a guidance from God teaching me training me to prepare me to my actual real life which is the life to come.
<<On the Day when they behold it, [it will seem to them] as if they had tarried [in this world] no longer than one evening or [one night, ending with] its morn! [19] - 79:46 (Asad) >>
This life is but a moment, it is a momentary transient illusion, not the real life.

*************We’re facing the situation. (saying "I don’t like it" in a negative state of heedlessness)
Conscious awareness, I will realize that it’s not the objective reality but my perception that makes things evil, bad disliked, I realize I am unable to see the mercy and wisdom in this situation, I am unable to feel pleased and grateful, and my previous shahadah witnessing tells me that anytime I am unable to be grateful, it’s because of my egocentric perception in a state of heedlessness.
State of heedlessness is a choice, when I don’t intend to be in a state of remembrance than I’m in ghaflah and when I dislike a situation I perceive it as either it’s evil or I’m a victim of the circumstances. I have decided I want to keep in a state of submission (tasleem, islam) to the will of God.
Remembrance (dhikr)- to connect my situation with my Rab/ Sustainor. (in a way I’ve already learned/understood, guidance of the revelation comes before this remembrance) (I’ve witnessed You are the Merciful and Wise but I can’t see it in this situation, help me see it, I’m questioning my perception)
Also, remembering that my not liking the situation, my reaction/emotions also are from God.
By claiming that “I do not like this situation” and accusing the creation and thus its Creator, we are using the unwanted emotions given to us by God as a weapon against God. Remembrance is to remember that the unwanted emotions are given to me by my Creator with a meaning and purpose to teach me so that I may transform into a person better than the one I am now, to prepare for akhirah/afterlife.
<<If you are ingrate [11] behold, God has no need of you; none the less, He does not approve of ingratitude in His servants: whereas, if you show gratitude, He approves it in you. And no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another’s burden. [12] In time, unto your Sustainer you all must return, and then He will make you [truly] understand all that you were doing [in life]: for, verily, He has full knowledge of what is in the hearts [of men]. - 39:7 (Asad>>
If I have the intention to be in a state of remembrance and to be aligned with my shahada than when I realize I’m unable to feel grateful, I make istighfar (a form of dhikr).
(Example: tasbeeh is like distillation of water, removes impurities (state of shirk khafi and ghaflah) and hamd is the state of the pure/distilled water)
Example for 1st illusion "I did, I am doing and I will do": I studied for an exam and I failed. (I am not responsible for the outcome)
Example: I didn’t study for an exam and I failed. (I am responsible for the outcome-even though I still didn’t create the outcome.) The teaching that “if you don’t like failing, you need to study” is what is good.
Example for 2nd illusion "Others did/are doing/will do": <<Said he: "O my Sustainer! Prison is more desirable to me than [compliance with] what these women invite me to: for, unless Thou turn away their guile from me, I might yet yield to their allure [31] and become one of those who are unaware [of right and wrong]." - 12:33 (Asad
And his Sustainer responded to his prayer, and freed him from the threat of their guile: [32] verily, He alone is all-hearing, all-knowing. - 12:34
For, presently it occurred to the nobleman and his household [33] _ [even] after they had seen all the signs [of Joseph's innocence] - that they might as well imprison him for a time. [34] - 12:35>>
Not liking injustice is from God (my emotions are not from me) God wants me to like and seek justice, He’s calling me unto justice, He is not unjust. When I realize that my yearning for justice is from God, than I can no longer accuse God of being unjust.
Example for 3rd illusion "Causes create the effect": street post fell on me and I am injured. The street post is unable to harm or benefit me by itself, it is not even aware of me. My injury is created by God. (see 67:3-4 next page) Injury, disease, illness are not flaws, not faulty creation, they too are created in an orderly perfect fashion with a meaningful purpose. In the sickness and in my dislike of sickness, in my yearning for healing, I find the Healer God. Through the comparison in various degrees of the reflection of God’s attributes, I find and meet God’s beautiful names, sowing the seed of Paradise in this world. (the earth is a sowing field of the akhirah next life)

- -> So therefore it is to prepare for the life to come that matters in this life.
- -> So therefore if I do not like something in this world, but then I come to realize it’s teaching me something or it’s training me in a way to prepare me to the life to come, than it’s actually something to be cherished even though I didn’t like it at first. Redefining, identifying the meaning and the purpose of this life, also redefines what is good and bad.

- Istighfar- I realize my perception must be wrong, I don’t see how it is wrong yet. Praying to “receive” the wisdom in the situation I do not like; and being patient.
- SubhanAllah (Glory be to God)--> questioning my perception, and understanding You God are above what I perceived you to be [musabbihoon—ones who are in a continuous state of tasbeeh]
